Wool warp, hand-dyed wool weft
25 by 78 inches, $2,500
Weaving in bands set at alternating angles to the vertical warps results in a very tight, well-wearing rug with the characteristic zig-zag lines and scalloped edges of Navajo wedgeweave. Combining this "loom-controlled" technique with tapestry techniques allowed me great freedom of movement and color, in the case of this runner, inspired by a painting by Karen Sherr. Shown to the right, painting and rug illuminate an otherwise rather dark interior hallway.
