Wool warp, hand-dyed wool weft
42 by 70 inches, $2,500
For me, stripes underlie all pattern in weaving. Horizontal wefts must be laid in one on top of another to form a textile that will hold its structure when removed from the loom. Here, I experiment with patterns of patterns of stripes, as well as with the circle, a form so elusive and simultaneously so enticing in the pixilated, rectangular medium of tapestry weaving. The colors, a deep blue-green enriched by light yellow-greens and several shades of gold, evoke for me the lush feel and appearance of early summer.
