I like this design for its spaciousness and sense of calm, which I feel the finished rug imparts also to the space around it. Mixing the dyes was a challenge I set myself: I sought to reproduce that color that sometimes appears in a sky clearing of storm clouds late in the day, a color that one cannot quite place as green or blue, but remains alluringly without name. I ended with weaving three shades of a pale greenish blue and another three shades of a pale bluish green in very thin stripes, a pattern that resulted in a surprisingly--and pleasingly--rich texture.
