TIME & PLACE Weaving seems to me to be akin to magic. I start with empty space within the four wooden beams of the warping frame. Across that nothingness, I string the thin white lines of the warp. Once the warp is stretched on the loom, I fill in the lined space with the richly colored, thickly textured wefts; the finished piece unfolds like time, moment by moment, strand by strand, something new that never before existed. These pieces were inspired by specific times and places, the seasons, the elements, rivers near where I live. These weavings, finished on both sides are reversible, woven sturdily for use on the floor as rugs. They can also be enjoyed as hangings on a wall. BACK/HOME |
