TIME & PLACE Weaving seems to me to be akin to magic. I start with empty space within the four wooden beams of the warping frame. Across that nothingness, I string the thin white lines of the warp. Once the warp is stretched on the loom, I fill in the lined space with the richly colored, thickly textured wefts; the finished piece unfolds like time, moment by moment, strand by strand, something new that never before existed. These pieces were inspired by specific times and places: the seasons, the elements, the forests and rivers and skies where I live. Finished on both sides, the rugs are reversible. Tightly woven, they are long-wearing as floor rugs, but can also be enjoyed as hangings on a wall. BACK/HOME |
